Friday Fictioneers – Stuck

Sometimes, self-awareness is also self-punishing.

To know that we’re here, not moving

To know that you’re bound to one direction, and me to another

To know what you want and what you need

To know what I need and what I want

To know that I cannot consistently provide either of those

To know that you cannot consistently provide either of those

To know what you deserve

To know what I deserve

To know that we share such strong passions and emotions

And to know that we cannot be together

Sometimes, the most potent and inescapable way to punish oneself is to just be aware.

  1. There’s a reason they say that ignorance is bliss, darling. This was a moving piece. Very powerful – the repetitive phrases particularly effective.

  2. Dear Francis, I could feel the almost hopelessness of the author of this piece. Very well done! The repetition of the verse. Magnificent – very, very well done! Nan 😉

  3. That was truthful, thoughtful, deep and I agree with Helena..sometimes Ignorance really is bliss because when you become aware of what the consequences of some wants can be you can no longer be gallant in your selfishness…..awesome. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
